Sacha Inchi Drizzle

Sacha Inchi is the seed of an Amazonian vine. It provides a high level of plant-based omega 3 fatty acids. This means it is helpful for supporting heart health, blood pressure, and brain function. It also contains all 8 of the essential amino acids, making it a good source of protein. Along with this, the Sacha Inchi seed contains  tryptophan, the amino acid necessary for the body to make serotonin Рthe feel-good hormone.

Sacha Inchi isn’t widely available, but some stores, such as the Grape Tree, sell it ready ground as a seed butter. Some separation occurs, so when you buy it there is a layer of oil on the top. The pot says to stir it back in, but I found this impossible, and had to place the oil and ground seeds into my grinder to blend together properly.

Pour this toffee-coloured spread back into the pot and keep in the fridge. A nutrient-rich topping for yeast-free bread or crackers, or as a dip for veggie sticks.

 

Sacha Inchi Dressing

Blend 3-4 tablespoons of water with one table spoon of the Sacha Inchi butter to obtain a creamy dressing, suitable to drizzle over salad, cooked vegetables or whole grains, porridge or cooked polenta.
